I don't think its confusing at all. its so helpful, especially on big races like Westport. It definitely cuts down on time searching for finishing photos! We love it! ...and thank u so much for all ur hard work and time put into giving us the best photos!

I paid it reluctantly but I think it's ridiculous. I love that you cover so many races. Definitely great quality photos and I can share with friends and family out of state. I agree, paying an arm and a leg for a tiny print leaves a bad taste in the mouth considering you've already paid to do the race, even when it's for a good cause. ;)"

  • 2/19 They use MarathonFoto. One picture, $24.99, all pictures $64.99. Needless to say I'm getting none of them even if I would have liked to get 2 of them...

-----
I hope one day race directors will consider an alternative to services that charge the price of a race entry for just a few pictures. These prices always leave such a bad aftertaste to such a great race. So there won't be very many of these popping up in social media sites advertising the race. Some races have begun paying photographers an appearance fee and offering pictures free or $5 a crack. Given the quality of the pictures that's about right.

Hi Ross,
Just wanted to send a huge thanks for the surprise free pics at Lou's 50/50. We were the two Really Cold runners in from Atlanta, and I was just happy to find a low key run we could make while we were in town.
I was really surprised to see a photographer there - and even more surprised to see the pics were free! They're adorable!! I have very few pics where my husband is actually smiling on course - two to be precise - out of the probably close to 100 races we've run ;) You got him smiling coming up to the finish for smiling pic #3 ever! Love it! Definitely a keeper!
The others turned out really cute too- we we have a great little album on facebook now of this race - thanks for coming out on a very cold day to take pics!

7000+ pictures, 5000+ of which are sideways. I had to turn my laptop on its side to be able to browse through them. Only to not see (or at least be able to find) a single one of my son or I. And they were shooting from a static location.

So I took this opportunity to browse the rest of your site and I learned more about you, and I'm glad I did. There should be more people in this world today like you! Words can't describe how the kindness of your heart has touched so many lives! God blesses each one of us with special talents and it truly is a blessing to be able to help others at something we enjoy (most of the time, any way!)
Any how, in short, I just wanted to thank you.Virginia L.

Dan Roehler I am willing to pay for a well organized race, and that means the registration process too. It's about a quality experience for me. If all you have is a t-shirt, you better have 5-year age group medals, a nice course, or a good cause. I d...on't object to online fees if it's part of a well organized race package. I'm even OK with "amateur" photos taken by volunteers if they are free or very low cost. I can't for the life of me understand how some of the "professional" photography companies justify $16-$18 per picture for mediocre pictures that don't focus properly on the runner. And to get digital images you have to pay $50-$60 or more!! I dabble in photograpy too, I've been known to take 600 pictures in a week's vacation so I know a couple of things about good photograpy. Nobody - I mean NOBODY provides the quality of photos I've seen from Dick Ross at any price, including those who charge $100 per runner for a complete package. Call me a fan!

........Hi Dick!

First of all, I want to thank you AGAIN and AGAIN for all the wonderful pictures that you took AND for your willingness to stand out in the cold and travel to all the different races to take pics of the runners and spectators. I just cannot thank you enough and I know you get a lot of compliments, but I don't think that you truly receive all the kudos that you deserve. You are sooo special!

Well, it's not the quality of pictures that you take, but I did try to take a few pics of you taking shots of other people. I've attached 3 photos. :-) Shows how much you enjoy doing great things for other people!

..............

One of the main reasons that I run local endurance races and finish strong is because I get to see you and look forward to all the great pictures that you take. You ALWAYS have a smile on your face and it is evident that you have touched THOUSANDS of people/runners because so many people recognize you and I hear people say, "There's Dick!" and I hear so many great compliments from other people. You seem to really enjoy what you do for others, and I want you to know that I don't take anything you have done for granted and I'll never be able to thank you enough!

Mr. Ross,
I would like to thank you for the wonderful pictures you provide to those participating in the many events in and around KC! What a wonderful keepsake!
I have included a story about my "journey" that appeared in the local paper (Lawrence Journal World). Also, attached you will find a photo you took of me at the Olathe Medical Center Womens Triathlon on Sept 11th. As you will see after reading the article the picture you took perfectly captured the spirit of that day for me. The folks at The American Heart Association who kindly gave me permission to use their logos love it as much as I do.

I ran many 5Ks this summer which was a first for me as I have had 7 knee surgeries and have never been a runner. But I used the 5Ks as training for the triathlon. I want to thank you for providing me with wonderful pictures from my "journey" this summer.
I will be sure to get a donation to you as soon as I can.
I look forward to seeing you at future events! Thanks again.

Hi Dick,
what a fun and great photographer you are. Thank you for taking photos of the recent trail running event at Clinton Lake. I think I'll need a larger version of the following commemorative photo for my wall. This was the farthest I have ever run Hi,

My son (Kyle Lewis, #99) ran is first trail run this past Saturday at Wyandotte Co Lake Park. He showed me the pics on-line. I could not go and take pics myself, so this was a WONDERFUL surprise for me to see him in so many pics. I also appreciate the final times being listed. Thanks for getting it all up so quickly!

I am a scrapbooking mom and will proudly display the pictures in his album. I would also like to give credit to those who took the pics if possible. (I know I always appreciate it when others do that for my pics.)

Anyway, thanks much!!!

Thank you SO much for taking/posting such great photos of the Free State 100K! I wasn't able to be there for the race, so it's great to get to see so many terrific pictures of my boyfriend (Ben Hian), and also of all the other runners. It really gave me a good sense of what a fun day it was. Ben, also, really appreciates your contribution to the day. We wish we had someone like you here in California! I posted one of the pictures to Facebook, with credit and a link to your site -- I hope that's okay??

Many thanks,

Jodi Saso-I am currently putting together a scrap book of every race I have done and it has gotten VERY expensive to buy all of those pics. I agree that Action Sports Images charges a lot of money for even a single pic (which is what I get) and I love that SeeKCrun does it for free! I feel that I would be more inclined to spend a little extra on the registration fee if I knew I would get free photos. I LOVE the Seekcrun folks too! They provide great pics!

I had a great day at the race and would absolutely go back to do it again. The race is put on by a very experienced group of trail runners and it shows. The volunteers were the best you could ask for, the timing and results were immediate, the shirt/mug/medal were great, and you also get TONS of FREE photos. Much better than some races where they want $80 for your pics (cough, Boston).

Dick Ross at http://www.seekcrun.com/ worked his magic again, stayed up all

I'd like to give a non-solicited plug for Dick Ross. While the race directors
pay Dick for his time, he works for very little in comparison to other
photographers. He is retired and a former runner who find joy in taking
pictures at all the regional trail races and providing them for free to
participants. Unlike other photographers at races, you cannot buy products from
him and he will gladly send you a high resolution photo (for free) if you email

Thanks Dick. Here is the first of three photos 118-120. You provide a great service and i like your photos of the families and non-runner shots, as I usually have my kids cheering me on. Very nice of you to come all the way out there in the mud to get the river shots too. Most guys would have stayed near the finish line!

Same day or next day is untouched by anyone else. And we are not even talking about first- and second- image pricing which makes only their full bundle pricing to be at all reasonable. Then there is the issue of image quality. They look lik...e they are all shot at f29 so they are very distracting, boring pictures since absolutely everything is in focus - but that way they maximize the mileage out of each shot. If they were of any better quality I might buy some, even at those prices. I buy about 5-10% of what's available from them. All of my favorite pics are from SeeKCRun!!

..Loved having pictures again at the BBF 5K this weekend! My expectations are set pretty high now though because I get disappointed when race pictures cost money and/or aren't posted the same day. You do a great job and I really appreciate to your work! Kate Bryant McN. on Facebook

They provide great pics!

pay Dick for his time, he works for very little in comparison to other

pictures at all the regional trail races and providing them for free to
participants. Unlike other photographers at races, you cannot buy products from

My first impression was, "here is a gentleman who is out here supporting all runners no matter what their speed. And since then, I've seen you at many local races, rain or shine and most recently at the top of Urish Hill at Topeka to Auburn. What a joy it was to see you there :) You are a wonderful representative of the KC running community.

The photos are wonderful. What a joy for the parents of these young people, to have photos of their children.
Where were you when mine were young?
Bless you for your kindness.

Thank you for taking all those great photos!
And just to comment - I really appreciate the extra emails on local runs. One of your emails led me to the Cliffhanger run which I had never heard of although I've been running around Lawrence and KC the past 4 years. It was a great run - Thanks!!

Thank you so much for the pictures taken in Lawrence for Head for the cure. What you do is really great and made the race special, now I can share these pictures with my sister who has been battling a brain tumor for 14 years. Thank you!

Thank you so much for all of the terrific photographs! I was in tears because I forgot my camera. This was my 7 year old son’s first race. I can’t tell you how much it means to have these beautiful pictures! Sincerely,

Thank you so much for being there for the Head for the Cure in
Lawrence today. All of us on Team Big John appreciate all the photos
you took! Thank you!

Mr. Ross,
I would like to thank you for the wonderful pictures you provide to those participating in the many events in and around KC! What a wonderful keepsake!

Hello,
First of all I want to say a big thank you for the work you do!! I do lots of races in the KC area and almost always forget to take a camera . So your pictures are always appreciated and so good!

Almost every time I open up Facebook, there is something from Seekcrun that makes me smile. Also, the events that you find are sometimes ones I would have never heard of. So, thanks and keep up the good work."

Mark Berry Dick, it was great to talk to you this morning at the Rockin' K. Always appreciate seeing you on the course - you make Hell seem like fun!

Shane Heiman Hey man - You take awesome pics! Thanks for doing it! I wish we had someone like you in Emporia!

Incidentally, I am in the Army and I move frequently and race
everywhere l live.  I'm not aware of other folks doing what you're
doing...so thank you!  I also don't have very many good action shots
of me running, so I truly appreciate it!

You provide a great service and i like your photos of the families and non-runner shots, as I usually have my kids cheering me on.  Very nice of you to come all the way out there in the mud to get the river shots too.  Most guys would have stayed near the finish line!

Hi Mr Ross~

Thank you so much for taking photos at the race last night! It was my first race with my Dad since I was a little girl. It means a LOT to me to have these images. It it a very generous thing you do, and from one photographer to another, I just wanted to say Thank You! You and your work are appreciated by my family!

Thanks so much for the photos from the Shawnee Mission Tri.  Even though the event was rained out it was still fun!!

"Dick; Thank you for being at Rock Creek Saturday Night. As always you create a tremendous amount of fun for everyone at the races you are involved with. Karen and I both respect you, and what you do a great deal, and we appreciate all you do for this running community."

I DONT KNOW WHAT WE RUNNERS WOULD DO WITHOUT YOU...YOU SURE ARE A GOOD FRIEND TO ALL KC RUNNERS...

You should know you always bring a smile to our faces. My first marathon was last year at Free State and your cheering and prompting for muscle man poses at the end made me smile when I felt like I was about to die. I'm not sure any of us can thank you enough for the encouragment and incredble pictures you give. If there is a running hall of fame somewhere YOU should be enshrined!

Thank you for making my first 50 mile run even more memorable! Just when I was feeling worse and the wind was picking up more, you blew that goose horn of yours and called me a world class athlete. That will be remembered for a long time and it gave me the inspiration to go do that second loop! Thanks, Gary from Illinois

Hurray for the director.  That is still a very small amount to pay for all the photos you took of those people and the joy you have given is priceless.
You have done a very good thing.  Thanks for your generosity.  You are a blessing to all who participated and their loved ones.
Another person to be Thankful for this year.  Mary Ann will print it today.  Thank you.

from Race Directors...Dick,Loved the photographer you sent to our race and the photos. Awesome to have such great pictures of the race. The runners love all the "bell photos" and a great service for us to have that action captured. We hope to get on your calendar for next year. Five Trails Half Marathon, Leavenworth

Dick,One more thing I forgot to mention….The shots were AWESOME!You really have an eye for capturing people in your lens.Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much for photographing our event today. The pictures look great and I look forward to receiving the copies on CD. We appreciate your time and talent and hope to work with you again in 2011!Thanks again,Suzanne

From Buffy K...about the Hawk 50..I also want to personally thank Dick Ross for taking his time to be at the race to capture another great memory for me. I really appreciate Dick being there EARLY to take excellent pictures AND for waiting patiently at the river crossing to capture a great moment. Thanks, Dick!

What a race and everyone was a winner in this great Mother's Day event. Thanks Dick for all of the great pics you take! J.D.

Great pictures Dick!! Thanks for all your hard work! A.G.

Thanks, Dick!!! It's great to get such an immediate viewing of the event happenings. You rock!! We are so lucky. Next race, I'd like to see you on that segway!!! Thanks again. Your work is appreciated and valued! H.B.

From K.B.

Yes Dick Ross, these are great photos!
Most of the photos in my run album are taken by Dick Ross. He motivates me to try to smile while I'm running! Thank you so much for being there to take our pictures!!

K. B. P.Yes, great photos! Thanks for all the hours you put in making sure you capture all of our wonderful running/walking memories!

This year, 2009, I asked runners to tell me how can I improve SeeKCrun.com and below are their answers

-Dick, you should clone yourself so there could be even more great pictures! Seriously, thanks for all you do for us runners!

-I really don't know what else you can do. Everything I've seen is great!
thank you is all i have to say. your volunteerism is inspirational and has propelled me to give more of my time to worthy causes.

-I think you do an awesome job covering the races for the Trail Nerds. You have something for everyone. Thanks for always being there.

-Make the pictures on your site be in the order they were taken - it's very annoying that they aren't. Also if you could name them with a timestamp to the second it allows you to see how far ahead of another runner you are (if the photo is taken at the same spot - always fun for gauging performance).

-Just love seeing your smiling face

-LOVE the site. Can't wait to see the events. NICELY done. THANKS!

-U Do a GREAT JOB, U are EXTREMELY important to kc running scene!! Thank you!!!

-You do a great job right now.

-I appreciate SeeKCrun and the photos provided - it does add to the running event experience in KC. Thank you!!! That said, the website has WAY too much going on and it is difficult to find photos, and to navigate the site in general.

-the website could be a little more organized its kinda confusing a search bar in the website would do wonders for the organization

You do a great job right now.

I always enjoy looking at your race photos! Yours have a unique style and personality that the sports photo companies do not have. The one suggestion I have is to simplify the look and feel of your website. There is so much text and so many different photos/events, I have a hard time finding where I even go to see the pictures. Just remember simple and cleaner style = easy to use website. :) Keep snapping those pictures. Always a joy to see you at the races! (from the survey) I think I am as simplified as possible...who would I drop Clubs, Race promotions, Advertisers? I always appreciate these kinds of inputs

Thanks so much for the mural- We LOVE it!! and I know the parents love the site with the pictures!  You are truly a gift to this community and to us.  We appreciate all the time and energy you spend capturing the energy of the moment at our events.  You do such a wonderful job and we so appreciate it!   Enjoy your summer!  We’ll keep in touch and  see you soon! P.P.

Thank you for all that you do.  I am sure these companies will be very happy to see their people competing.  We will see you at SM Tri.C.T.

Dick I want to thank you for all you did to make our event even more fun for our athletes.  The fact that you are there to archive their success and the event for KCCC is phenomenal.  All too often we are so busy at the event time doesn’t allow us to express a heartfelt thank you for all that you do for us, and for the sport of triathlon.  You are a true hero to so many and we appreciate you very, very much.  Have a great week and we will see you again soon!     J.L.

I have no complaints. I love races where you take pictures and your website is incredibly easy to manage. Thanks!

Thanks for access to the free photos. You are always so cheerful and encouraging at the races.

You Rock.......what is there to improve! Love your photos and always willing to take a snap at the spur of a moment!!!No improvements needed. You are already great.

I love seeing all the pictures online.

I love the pictures that you provide! Keep it up if you can! Its always nice to see you at the races!

I think I mentioned that this was my first race ever, so kind of significant - very glad to have the pic!  I am sure i will see you at future races!  Again, truly appreciate you being there and volunteering your time and talent! L.J.

Dick,
You, and other volunteers, are really appreciated by the racing community, although there are always a few neanderthals who expect that everything should be free and geared to their needs. Your service is one of a kind and can never be matched. A.P.

Dick: Thank you for the free service you provide to the participants of the Truffle Shuffle, the first Saturday each March. Your photography enhances the performances of the runners, and I appreciate your contributions of time, money,  and expertise to make the race a more enjoyable experience. B.P.

Thanks for all you do, Dick!  I'm still open to helping here and there if you need any help with the website.
  Appreciate the quality work! C.J.

These are comments collected from the Runners Voice survey...Thank you very much

No complaints, the best running photographer in the area. Even if you made no changes based on this survey, it would still be good.

You do a great job of getting everyone photographed.

I love that you capture so many different moments in one race event. Because you take so many, it would be helpful if the pictures are organized by bib number on the smaller races you work. I know that it is impossible for races such as St. Pattys Day but for the ones where there is less competition, it would be great! :)

Dick, I LOVE your pictures! They have been a source of inspiration to me and my family on different levels! If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have ANY pictures of our accomplishments! THANK YOU, YOU ARE INVALUABLE!!!

Dick, you can't improve on perfection! Seriously, I can't imagine what you could possibly do to make your services any better.

Hi Dick – Saw everything greeting me when I came back to the office this week.  Thanks so much for everything!  Thanks again for all you do! J.B.

Your pictures are FANTASTIC!! Thanks for putting so much of your heart into it. K.C.

First off, I want to thank you for all the pictures you've taken. My wife, Lindsey, and I love going through the pictures after races (Head for the Cure, and the Olathe Half Marathon have been our races, plus a few others here and there since 2006). We have been going back through old races photos available from 2007-2008, and printing the ones of us off, as memories F.S.

Dick!  Thank you SOOO much for coming out to Groundhog Run 2009.  I just saw all of the amazing photos you posted online and they capture the energy, excitement and fun of our event perfectly.  I truly appreciate all of your support!!!  :-) E.

Dick,
We are already grateful for the CD and that fact that you came to photograph our event.  You are so kind and generous.

Hi, Dick,
Thanks so much for the 2009 calendar which I picked up yesterday at the Chili Run.  They were going fast and much appreciated.  I remember that hot day in Tongie when you took our photo for the Library Run!
Thelda was helping at the check-in table yesterday and she said she had a wonderful time at your Volunteer Party this past fall.  Delicious food, kisses and serenades.

Thanks so much for the poster with all the DBA CX race pic’s.  Everything went very good that day.  The city even said that they would like to see us again next year.  Your picture should be in the dictionary next to the words good neighbor. Thanks, T.

Hey Dick, Heard you were laid up for awhile with some health issues.Just wanted to send you a quick note to pass along some good wishes. You do SO MUCH for the running community in Kansas City, and it shouldn’t take surgery to tell you that, but please know how much your generosity means to everyone.Take care…and best wishes for a full recovery,R.S.

Just wanted to tell you that I hope you feel better.  I heard about your surgery and meant to send something to you sooner.   You are greatly missed at the races.  You make any runner out there feel special and that they are doing a great job!  Take care and hope that you feel better here soon! Hi Mr Ross!
Thanks again for your wonderful pictures from Tarmac Run. Awesome pics of my daughter...You're the bomb!    :-) R.S.

My wife and I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we appreciate what you add to our events.  We have just moved here from NM and were extremely pleased to have someone as positive as you present at the Clinton Cross Country Challenge.  It was our first race in Kansas and our hope is that your positive character will encourage others involved in the sport to be as encouraging and supportive as you were this past sunday.  Thank you again.

Sincerely,
H.and J.

Hi Dick--

Coco and I  would like to thank you for all your great photos you take at the events. And for your time. Thank you for the calendars they were cool. Iam sending one to my daughter in England she will get a kick out of it.
Have a great evening K.D.

You do a great job with your pictures, website and newsletters.  We are hoping you are able to attend our events in 2008 because you add a lot of professionalism to our events and we really appreciate it. C.T.

I miss all my trail nerd friends and I miss seeing your smiling face at the events. I've often wondered how many people have decided to stick with running because they were inspired by an image you captured of them in action.
Thanks again for all you do and keep up the good work B.B.

Dick,
Thanks for the calendars!!!  And, for all you do and they way you do it!  Have a blessed holiday season and I can only pray I'm as active and adventurous as you when I turn T.J

Thank you very much for the 2008 Running calender you sent me.  I really
appreciate the calender and everything else you do for the KC running
community.Hope to see you at the Chili Run.D.

Dear Mr. Ross,

I mentioned to you during the Jingle Bell Run how much I appreciated your service to the running community. I have recently come back after a 10 year hiatus because my daughter wants to run. We never had this service before and honestly my running scrapbook has few pictures in it except the ones my dad took in high school and some fuzzy shots from "professional" photographers. Your pictures are great and I am looking foward to working on my daughtr's running scrapbook. Thanks to you, it will have plenty of really good pictures in it.
                                                    Sincerely,
                                               R.S
                                          ( Audrey's mom )

I just wanted to send a personal "thank you" for offering up your photos for free on the internet.  What a wonderful gift to give the particpants of these races!  I ran the Turkey Trot yesterday and it was so fun to see pictures (and so soon!) from that event--I never even would have thought to bring a camera so having pictures is a real treat.

Thanks for all you do!C.

Thanks for being at our race today.  I've asked G.W. to post a link to your pictures.  I've attached a list of runners by their bib numbers, in case you need it.  Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks so much for coming.  We had a great event and you really make the event special! Thanks, N.

  • Thanks Dick!That’s a great picture.I appreciate all of your help.Thanks again, L.Y.

  • Thank you so much, I did receive all of the photos and greatly appreciate your assistance.  Have a wonderful weekend, for once it won't be in the triple digits.  I have to say we were lucky on our race this year, we got it
in before the heat wave started.R.
  • Dear Dick,
I just got the murals, and they are gorgeous!  I will give one to N.K. who is the director of Health Care Access Clinic, and we will use one at all the events we go to. Thank you so much for being so kind and considerate,
    You are the best!! M.
  • Dick, thanks so much for helping make our run a success!  I've had lots of favorable comments about having you and BJ.  Our "wrap up" meeting for this year's run will be next week; we had a mini-meeting after the run to talk about next year already.  I know you and BJ will be asked to return. Thanks again for your help and support of our race!   E.Y.
  • We would love it if you could be at our family oriented, fun event to capture the moment as these young ladies celebrate successful completion of the fall program.  Mr. Ross, we so appreciate your support and all that you do for the Kansas City Metropolitan running community, and I personally look forward to seeing your smiling face at a race and thank you for providing my picture memories! C.J.
  • Many thanks for that magnificent collage of the Heartland Run. Keep clicking. Your are an important asset
    to running.
    J.M

  • I participated in the Race for Hope 5K yesterday. I first want to say that the photographer, I forget his name, did an excellent job taking photos! Also, do you publish the times and rankings of the finishers online as well? B.M.
Thanks for the great work with the photos!
  • Dick, you do a great job and perform a great service to the running
community.  Our sport is considered by the professional big time news
media as amateur and consequently does not get the coverage that
professional sports do, a la the Chiefs, Royals, Wizards, etc.  So
without you and your site many events would go unnoticed and unreported
by any press. Keep up the good work and I wish you well my friend......
    D.R.
  • You do such a great job at our events of making each participant that you shoot feel special that is a trait about you that I personally just love.  We are very appreciative of your commitment to our events Dick and hope that you continue to keep us on your schedule each year. J.L.
  • I can't speak for everyone, but as an athlete (and volunteer yesterday) I enjoy your enthusiasm, your willingness to support our events, and the great fun you bring to the race venues.  You are truly appreciated - keep up the great work!!  A.G.
  • Absolutely awesome, Dick. The pictures, the music, the memories...
You did a great job (AS ALWAYS) of capturing the spirit of the event.
I need to go get a Kleenex now.
Thank you, again and again, for providing your service to the community,
    J.T.
  • Good evening Dick:
I just want to drop you this brief note to express my appreciation ( along with the entire tri -athletes) for lasting the seven hours you spent taking great photos as you usually do. With temperatures in the 90's you were certainly a trooper.
Thanks again. See you at the underground run.
    best - J.F.
  • I am not sure how to contact the man who was taking the pictures at the summer sizzler last sat pm----but i just wanted to say a HUGE thank you.  It was my little sisters first run and we wouldn't have had a pic w/o you!  It's now framed on my desk for life! You're fantastic.  Thanks
  • Thank you for being at Camp WIN to photo graph the girls. We appreciate it and I know the parents are going to love the pics!

  • i Dick,I’m back from Africa and was greeted by your wonderful marathon murals.  Thank you so much, it was really fun to look at all the photos (and I saw you even got me in a couple!).  You are much appreciated!  Best, B.W.
  • Just read your editorial, Dick, and it is informative and thought-provoking.  I remember the Fuller Brush man, too, and look at the freebies in our running packets.  The last paragraph is very good.  We are lucky in KC to have such fine photographic coverage of many, many running events and I personally appreciate having you as a resource for running event photos.  There seems to be room and demand for several photographers. A spirit of cooperation would be a positive thing.;A.N.
  • Hi Dick.  You are sooo right in what you said about the freebies!  I did the annual Humane Socitey Dog n' Jog last Sunday, and I distinctly remember seeing the photog from XXXX Photographic there, and thinking well, there
won't be many personal human-(or should I say "dog") interest photos here. Looked for you but did not see you, and frankly I wouldn't blame you because my dog Sandy and I ran the last two laps of the 2-miler in POURING down rain, which felt good to us, but probably not to onlookers or photogs.  Keep up the good work.  You provide a very much appreciated service to the running community. J.M.

Thanks for the newsletter, Dick. I think what you do is a great "model" for other photographers. Hopefully, they will get the hint. R
  • Thanks Dick!  Once again you have out did yourself.  Not only did you take great pictures but you endured the heavy rain.B.S.
  • Thanks again for coming out yesterday and taking pictures of our event we appreciate that very much.  I am looking forward to seeing your pictures.  We will see you at the Shawnee Mission Tri. C.T.
  • Hi!  Thanks for what you do!  You provide an amazing service S.R.
  • thanks Dick and you are performing a great community service for the runners ! G.G.

  • I pulled up your photos. Excellent, excellent!! J.

  • Hi Dick - Thanks so much for coming out to the run again this year.  We appreciate the quick turnaround as always, and for making so many pictures available.  The slideshow is fantastic as well.  And we appreciate you donating the collage for the silent auction - looked great.  I'll be sure to keep you posted on upcoming events - you're always welcome to join us if you like.  Thanks again for all you do! J.

Dick,Thank YOU so much for doing our event each year!  Your enthusiasm and kindness is much appreciated (and a tradition at our run)!Blessings,T.
  • Hi Dick, We received your CD, and it is fabulous. you so much for coming and for your support.; See you next year,M.R.
  • Thank you for taking these pictures!  You are awesome!  I can't believe you provide them for free.  I lost my camera at the race and without you I would have to pay $20 for one picture of the event.  Thanks again. H.T.
  • Thank you so much for the service you offer of pictures of area runs. I loved reliving Brew to Brew through your photo gallery T.D.
  • I got the CD in the mail and I really appreciate you providing that to us. I will see you at future races and spread the word of your web-site.D.Y.

  • Thanks for the great job of all of the photographs. They are super and you are doing a great service.
    Thanks, W.R. Marshall, Mo
  • Thanks for the slideshow you sent after St. Pat's. All ten of the KC Express frogs enjoyed it.
  • Dick,Wow,I just picked up the poster you delivered to UPS. Thank you so much. This is a real boost to me am working to pull this event together. It s so great to see all the happy faces and all the people participating together. Also, I will put this up at my church to help inspire people to get out and walk or run K. Race Director
  • Thanks again, Dick for an awesome job of capturing the "soul" of an event.Your presence was much appreciated.B.
  • Great photos, as usual. I will be working out at the Truffle run. C.
  • Having a picture of our "Psycho" experience made the perfect gift- thank you! L.
  • It’s a great piece, Dick, and I thank you for your time and trouble, and for thinking of us.T.( referring to a poster of the 2006 Mother's Day Run.)
  • Hi Dick, I just read a short note in the Star that says looking at pictures helps raise peoples mental mood. So it's now documented that you are makingpeople feel good. S.
  • Thanks so much for your quick response and the copies of your great pics!So appreciate all your support, M.
The photos are WONDERFUL!  Thank you so much, Dick.  You are the best!
  • We are currently planning the 3rd annual KC Bike and Footchase to be held at Zona Rosa.  Last year you took some awesome pics of our event.  You do a great job!  You help make our event better with your pictures.  B.S.

  • The following is an email thread that covers two message...I laughed out loud!
Don, don't we look like we are having fun!!!!!  This picture is in the slide show at www.seekcrun.com that means we made the big time!!!

Actually, you do. And - I can print it!  In living color yet! This is so cool!

Your photographs add a more personal touch that others don't provide when just capturing a runner in stride or at the finish line. When you get the people enjoying the course as well as each other's company before and after the event, you're not only showing more of the area that people have memories of, but you're also capturing more of what what many are enjoying. I think only those who do the events for fun and enjoyment will truly appreciate that aspect while those who do the events for personal challenge or even for personal gain probably enjoy photos of themselves in action.B.R.

The cd you gave me of the Heartland Run was excellent.  Keep up the good work . J.M.

I appreciate your photos and judging by what you have told me about the number of hits you have, others do also. R.N.

I think your candid and group shots are great ... S.R.

I can only say great things about what your pictures and slides shows have done for our events. I can’t tell you how much I was impressed the first time I saw your website and all the pictures that you took. There’s a WOW feeling each time I look at all the happy faces of our participants. J.T.

Your photos are very personal to the running experience, unlike other "bib number" photographers.  Going the extra step of sending a disc to me for the last run was simply awesome.  What can we do for you? B.H.
  • Thanks again Dick for the great job you do. We all really appreciate it.
    See you again soon! B.R.
  • On behalf of the Blue Springs YMCA, our members and the race participants I would like to thank you for the outstanding service you provided for our 2006 Boo Run 5K. B.H.
  • We've really appreciated your support of the running and walking community in KC. We hope to see you (and your camera) whenever you can make it.A.P.Thank you again.
  • Mr. Ross, thanks so much for the pictures. I really appreciate the CD. Pattie (Event Director)
  • Dick Ross, one of our newest members of the club (Welcome aboard Dick), created the attached slide show so we can all share the fond memories. Even if you had other commitments, we still want you to see the smiling faces of your fellow club members. Dick has a real talent for catching us in the good poses! (My pleasure)
  • Great to meet you at the marathon last Saturday. What a ma
  • gnificent day! Thanks for your willingness to send me a disc of your work. I'm really looking forward to it! Mailing address is:B.W. ( I gave full permission to use the photos as he wished (next year's brochure, web site, Power Point for sponsors, etc., you see, my interest is getting sponsors for the web site so that no one pays anything)
  • I just read on the website a little bit about you. I didn’t' realize you are doing this for free! That is cool that you are using your talents to give back to others by taking the time to travel to all the races and maintain the website - my hat off to you. Keep up the good work!
  • It’s good to see someone consistently shooting photos at local races. I know you’re just one guy who has a lot of ground to cover and your post race photos are great. Speaking as a racing scene regular, what I’d rather see and would be more inclined to pay for (I know we can download free small prints) would be photos from out on the course (i.e. running/racing pictures). Thanks for what you’re doing and hope to see you more out on the course! S.D. (I will certainly try to do better getting the "action" shots...courses that lap past the finish line make it easier...)
  • Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into sharing the on-line running event photos. If I could just make one suggestion it would be to have more action (running) photos. I know that the races go by fast and you do what you can but the running shots are the best!!!!K.B.
  • Thanks so much for coming out to Head for the Cure 5k again this year. You photos are always just fabulous. K.A.
  • I did want you to know I appreciated the pictures, and I missed seeing you at the Helen Gold race on Sunday

  • The pictures you took look really great, and
having you there gave us much more of an "event feel" Thanks so much
  • Dick, I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for all the great pictures that you take. In all the events I compete in it is so nice to see a familiar face at all the races and I can always count on a smile from you and countless pictures of myself. If it wasn’t for you I would not have such great memories of all these races. Again thanks so much your effort is truly appreciated, J.K.
  • Dick,
This is fantastic! Thanks so much!! We really appreciate your support. Pray for rain on Sunday...not Saturday! C.H.

.And it's great to have some action shots of us during the race, as apposed to just the before and after's that we took ourselves.J.C. (regarding the Smithville Lake Endurance event).
